Since 1998 Compassion House has provided transitional housing to homeless families in the Issaquah area. Recognizing that families in distress need personal support as much as a roof over their heads, we developed a volunteer-based program of personal support including counseling, mentoring, and other forms of “life-coaching” assistance.
The first setting was an old farmhouse loaned by a developer until that farmsite became a tract of new homes. Then the City of Issaquah saw how the Compassion House program supported the City’s goal of increasing the supply of low income housing, and rented us a dilapidated old house on the site of a future city park.
